Long overdue! Current Fitness Update

For the few of you following me I'm so sorry for not keeping up with my blogs. I have so much going on right now. It's easier for me to update on Instagram because its just pictures. I wanted to share my current fitness update. I've toned more of my muscle, and put on a few pounds of muscle. I'm still doing my HIIT training and its going great. My abs have been the biggest challenge due to my diastasis , but it is at 2 inch in width just one more inch and it will be closed. I plan to continue this HIIT training and just let my body respond the way it wants. One thing I've noticed is that with my children I had to just do 15-20 minutes a day. That worked out fine and I'm still seeing results. So here's my current picture below.

Busy Mom Cardio HIIT 5 min workout

Today, I uploaded a cardio HIIT workout which was fun. It was 5 minutes but challenging mainly because I had to run through it twice to make sure I was doing the moves right. By the third time I was a bit tired but I wanted to upload it today. My goal is to keep making quick workouts for busy moms. That's my passion to help mothers look and feel beautiful. I desire to get better over time providing longer full length video but for now my schedule is pretty busy. So check it out if you have time on my YouTube channel.

My Top Leg Exercises Video Upload

I have been so busy but managed to make a fitness video. In the quick video I share my top favorite leg exercises for the summer. As seen in the picture you will see jumping jacks, jog in place, front kicks, pliƩ squats and butt kicks all of these exercises target the leg and other parts like the abs and arms. I'm very proud of this video, it took a lot of planning but was fairly easy to do. You may even hear my son in the background. So check it out to get beautiful toned legs for the summer.

April Amazing Abs Challenge

This month my focus is on my abs. I am proud of my progress and would like to tone my abs more. I've created a challenge that I know I can follow and keep up with. Each day along with my running plan and clean eating I will do at least 1 set of ab exercises. So far I've been working on my abs every day. I will share an update and some before and after pictures later this month.

My March Fitness Update

The month is almost over and I am so glad about my fitness progress.I have been working on my 5k training and its going great. I'm more focused on endurance rather than speed. I also am working on my running form and breathing. One thing that has really helped with my fitness is my eating habits. I know I've said this in an earlier post, but my eating habits have helped my fitness in so many ways. I have more energy to take care of my kids during the day. I use to drink alot of coffee during the day now I drink less. Another great thing that happened for me this month is that I met my desired weight goal. I explain how I felt in my video below. Next month, my fitness routine will have a few changes but I will keep you updated.

My Current 5k Training Plan

This month I've had an exciting opportunity to train for a 5k at home using my treadmill. I found a simple 5k plan out of my Fitness Magazine. So far thing are going pretty well, but its been a challenge putting in my training time. I hope to be ready to run a few races later this year.

My February Fitness Favorites

Last month was an exciting month since I received my new running shoes. It caused me to have more confidence in beginning a running routine again, which is why it is one of my favorites. Next is a very helpful book "The Sweaty Mama Guide, Secrets of a Fit Mom, which I purchased on Amazon.com this book has helped me so much, and my final favorite is the Fitness Magazine that is very inspiring hearing other women's stories, and the fitness fashion ideas are great. My Easy Chair Circuit Training Workout

After searching online I wasn't able to find a basic circuit training workout in less than 5 minutes so I created one. I did some brainstorming and I chose exercises that will target problems areas for me, and many other moms today. We are busy with family, work, school and other obligations and may not have time for even 15 minutes. So this workout is quick and effective gets right to the fat burning zone. It can be done twice or once depending on how much time you have. Today I did it once but tommorrow I will do it twice. I want to let moms and women know that you shouldn't feel bad if on some days you cannot exercise for a longer time just do this workout. I will have a video uploaded later tonight but if you want to get started do the following: jog in place for a minute, begin tricep dips for 30 secs, jog in place for another minute, do mountain climbers for 30 seconds, jog in place for minutes, do shoulder presses for 30 seconds, seated squats for 30 seconds, and finally jog in place and your done.

My new running shoes and clothes

Today, I got my first item on my wishlist, the new balance 1290 running shoes and a cute running outfit. I had so much fun today trying on my new shoes, running on the treadmill, doing push-ups, jumping lunges. I felt a double dose of motivation. Now I'm pretty tired but that's okay. I hope to start training for a 5k, and be able to run a race later this year. I will update when I register for a race.

I can fit my dress again!

So Valentine's Day is coming up and I thought that I would see if I could fit a dress that was too tight the last time I tried it on it barely zipped up. I took it in the bathroom and put it on, and to my surprise it fit, I could zip it up in the back. That let's me know my workouts and healthy eating are not in vain. That motivated me so much to keep doing the right thing. The numbers on the weight scale haven't moved much but I am loosing inches. February Fitness Goals and Checklist

This month I have great fitness goals and plans, I want to keep things simple yet fun. I will be working out 3-5 day. My main focus will be on cardio and strength training. On my instagram profile @ sunshine7031 I listed 3 challenges doing more push-ups, Plyometrics ( jump roping and jump and jacks) along with post exercise stretching. Once I purchase the right running shoes for overpronated feet I will begin treadmill running. My diet will be a modified clean eating plan which I will explain later on another post. On the days I cannot exercise I will keep up with my house work exercise workout minimum. I will show you my measurement pictures of my progress too this month. I want to encourage other mothers that are trying to loose the baby weight. I will also be able to show my fitness and running gear haul later this month. Have a Great Fitness Month!

My Housework Exercise Routine

For the longest time I didn't consider housework as exercise. If it wasn't the traditional cardio and strength training then it wasn't exercise to me. Sometimes I would be so sad if I didn't get to run or do my favorite DVD. This year I decided to document my housework as exercise. Because in reality housework is low impact exercise especially with my responsibilities as a stay at home mom. I'm constantly bending, turning, squatting. Reaching, pulling and picking up things all day. The good thing is I'm burning calories and my metabolism is going great throughout the day. Here is a list of my daily housework exercises below:
I work my arms and shoulder when I'm lifting mostly my 4 months old, and 2yr old. My legs when I do a general sweep through of the house midday. I go to the living room , kitchen, bathroom and rooms to see what needs to be picked up, I don't just bend over but instead I make a conscious effort to squat down. When I'm giving my kids a bath at night I'm working my abs because I like to kneel next to the tub to bathe them. So my stomach muscles are in an isometric state. I wash dishes throughout the day and when I'm washing dishes I tighten my arm muscle while I'm washing dishes especially with the pots and pans. Overall, I get a good cardio when I play with my kids, so I make time to chase them around and play fun games so we both get exercise as a family. An added bonus would be to run or do my fitness DVD if I have time. Each day presents different challenges and things to do so it depends.

My January Fitness Goals

This month my desire was be consistent with my fitness routine. In all honesty I haven't been consistent although I have exercised on most days. If you are interested in my 2013 Fitness Goals watch this video:
I decided that having a fitness goal for the year is great, but I also need monthly fitness goals, along with weekly and daily fitness goals. Planning my workouts are key if I do not plan my workouts I will not do them. Being a stay at home mom keeps me very busy. As I write this blog my kids are hovered around me trying to snatch my computer. So far what I've done consistently is drink more water, eat more vegetables and fruit with my meals, I'm still working on my sugar intake. I have a sweet tooth. But I did decide to limit my soda drinking to one time per week. That's where all my calories were coming from the sodas. So in short here are my January goals even though the month is almost over I will share what I've reached and what I need to improve
1. I am exercising on staggered days, but would like to exercise 3-5 days per week
2. I am eating more vegetables and fruits but would like to be more creative with my meals
3. I am drinking more water but would like to drink the required amount of water

I absolutely love to run, but right now I don't have any running shoes. After searching I found these which I really like. I will take a picture when I get these new shoes. My goal is to let these super cute running shoes motivate me to run at least 3x a week on my treadmill.

My Fitness Background

While studying Kinesiology in college from the year 2002 through 2005 I learned quite a bit about the body and fitness. At the time I wasn't a mother yet so I put to practice everything I learned. It was easy to get in the gym and spend an hour on cardio and strength training, I also spent time on clean eating planing my eating schedule for the week. Once I had children all of that changed. I couldn't just spend an hour at the gym. I knew I had to make a choice to still be fit even though it wasn't easy. Its possible to be a fit mom even when going to the gym isn't an option. This blog is my current fitness journey I recently had a baby so I'm on a mission to loose the baby weight. So far I've lost 10 pounds! During the course of the year I will share my fitness challenges, inspirational pictures, videos, exercises, quick tips, my fitness buys/wish lists, progress photos, and much more. So if you are a busy mom or woman and interested follow me. I want to share my story and have fun.
